Cleveland Water Alliance (CWA) is proud to announce that we have secured $15,000 in co-funding from the Elsa M. Heisel Sule Foundation and the R.C. Durr Foundation!
This funding is specifically designated to support our Workforce Development in Water Monitoring and Management initiatives, helping us cultivate the next generation of freshwater innovation leaders.
Empowering the Water Workforce
As a world-renowned water cluster, CWA is dedicated to leveraging technology—like our Smart Lake Erie Watershed (SLEW) network of over 200 IoT sensors—to provide real-time data and sustainable solutions for water challenges. However, the most critical component of this work is the people who manage, analyze, and innovate with this technology.
This $15,000 in grant funding, made possible by the generosity of both foundations, will directly bolster our efforts to:
- Train and educate Thomas More University students in cutting-edge water quality monitoring and data management techniques.
- Bridge the skills gap between current academic training and the needs of the fast-growing water technology industry.
- Create pathways for students and professionals to engage with our testbed infrastructure and pilot programs, gaining hands-on experience with technologies being trialed on the Ohio River.
Investing in water workforce development is an investment in the long-term health of watersheds across Ohio and the economic strength of our region as a global hub for freshwater innovation.
