Get a behind-the-scenes look at how water from Lake Erie is made safe to drink before being delivered to your home.
Join us as we celebrate Drinking Water Week with free guided tours of our Crown Water Treatment Plant! Visitors will get a first-hand look at everything that goes into making water from Lake Erie safe to drink, including filtration, disinfection, and testing. Guests will also have the opportunity to engage in water-related experiments, demonstrations, and exhibits made for the whole family.
To make sure everyone gets the most out of the experience, the number of tour spots available will be limited. Tours will last 30-40 minutes and depart every 10-15 minutes, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. When you register, you'll have to pick a tour time slot. Each tour is limited to 20-25 people to minimize wait times and ensure a thorough experience.
You're welcome to arrive before or stay after your tour time to enjoy additional activities provided by our team and partner organizations.
Please keep in mind that Crown, like all of our water treatment plants, operates 24/7/365. Some areas may be very noisy during the tour and certain restrictions will be in place for the safety and security of visitors and staff. Tours involve significant walking and standing. We recommend wearing comfortable close-toed shoes. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know in advance and we'll be happy to make accommodations.
