The Great Lakes Water Studies Institute, at Northwestern Michigan College, is recognized as having one of the nation’s leading marine technology programs, and the first and only bachelor’s of science degree in marine technology in the United States. Northwestern Michigan College also offers an engineering tech associate of applied science with a marine specialization degree, an associate in applied science, water quality and environmental technology degree, and an associate in sciences and arts degree in freshwater studies.
Northwestern Michigan College also operates The Marine Center, which serves as a professional development platform for working professionals and is fully integrated within the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute. The Marine Center provides geospatial applications and training solutions for industries such as marine technology, hydrographic surveying, and remote sensing, and covers land survey, unmanned aerial survey, and marine survey industry sectors and environments.
