Dr. Richard Schoephoerster is currently the Dean of the Washkewicz College of Engineering at Cleveland State University. The College is comprised of six departments housing 26 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees with approximately 75 faculty and staff serving about 2500 students. Prior to this role he served as Dean of the Graduate College and Research at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. He was appointed Dean of the College of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates in 2016 and served in that capacity until 2019. He joined AUS from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he served as Dean of the College of Engineering from 2007 to 2015. Prior to that he served in various capacities as a faculty member at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida. Dr. Schoephoerster has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Mechanical Engineering, all from the University of Iowa. He is a proud graduate of the 2024 class of Leadership Cleveland.
