Emily Hyland is a Master’s student in Environmental Science at Cleveland State University, where she also earned her Bachelor of Science in 2024. Her research focuses on applying imaging spectroscopy to better understand shifts in phytoplankton community composition, with a particular emphasis on advancing water quality monitoring in the Great Lakes. Emily is deeply passionate about addressing the challenges posed by harmful algal blooms (HABs) and is dedicated to developing innovative approaches to protect and sustain freshwater ecosystems.
