CLEVELAND, OH – Cleveland Water Alliance (CWA) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) with the Catalan Water Partnership (CWP), a leading water cluster based in the Northeast of Spain. This formal agreement establishes a strong framework for international collaboration, aimed at accelerating innovation, business development, and the commercialization of sustainable water technologies.

A Shared Commitment to Global Water Innovation

Bryan Stubbs, President and Executive Director of Cleveland Water Alliance, highlighted the strategic value of this partnership, stating, “The Catalan Water Partnership is an outstanding leader in proven projects with innovative water solutions, particularly in areas like nutrient management and throughout the hospitality industry. We're excited to formalize this relationship, as it immediately expands our international dealflow and creates direct pathways for companies to enter the U.S. market.”  

Cleveland Water Alliance and the Catalan Water Partnership are both deeply committed to enhancing global market entry and fostering meaningful connections within the water sector, believing that international cooperation, innovation, and economic exchange are essential for global progress. This partnership is designed to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of ideas, innovation, and business opportunities between the Great Lakes region and Catalonia. This enables CWA and CWP to support their stakeholders in accessing new markets and promoting the worldwide advancement of sustainable water technologies.

The Catalan Water Partnership’s Director, Xavier Amores Bravo, noted the expansion of opportunities: “This agreement allows us to access Cleveland Water Alliance’s robust testbed network, allowing Catalan companies to demonstrate their technology in new environments. In turn, we are excited to share our deep expertise in sustainable water solutions to address pressing water issues in the Great Lakes region.”

A Growing International Relationship

The relationship between CWA and CWP began in 2022, rooted in shared goals for global water collaboration and innovation. Since this initial engagement, each organization has visited the other’s offices and project sites, deepening the mutual understanding of each region's unique needs and capabilities.

This Memorandum of Action solidifies a powerful partnership between the U.S. Great Lakes region and Catalonia. By combining CWP’s strengths in cutting-edge water technology with CWA’s proven testing infrastructure and market-entry support, this partnership establishes a vital pipeline that will accelerate the commercialization of innovative water solutions.
