Cleveland Water Alliance welcomed three exceptional new board members at our annual meeting this November. These leaders bring diverse industry knowledge spanning infrastructure, innovation, financial expertise, and the water technology market, which will be instrumental in guiding CWA's strategy and impact.

We are proud to welcome Ted Christy (KPMG), Reese Johnson (Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati), and Tony Marchetta (Fortune Brands Innovations). Each of their three-year terms will help us in advancing our mission and continuing to establish the Great Lakes region as a global hub for freshwater innovation.

Meet Our New Board Members

Theodore (Ted) Christy

Audit & Assurance Managing Director, KPMG

Ted Christy is an accomplished audit and sustainability executive at KPMG, bringing over a decade of experience advising organizations on financial oversight and ESG strategy. He is a proven board leader with a strong track record in mission-driven governance and is passionate about advancing equity, environmental stewardship, and the arts through collaborative board service.

Reese Johnson

Deputy Director and Chief Engineer, Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati

Reese Johnson is the Deputy Director and Chief Engineer at the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD), where he leads a team planning and delivering a $1B+ capital program. A champion of innovation, Reese co-led the WEF/WRF Intelligent Water Systems Challenge, fostering key partnerships to solve pressing water issues.

Anthony (Tony) Marchetta

Vice President, Innovation, Fortune Brands Innovations

Tony Marchetta is an innovative business and technology leader with over 25 years of experience driving growth through product development, innovation strategy, and advanced research. He has a proven record of establishing and leading global innovation functions and delivering over $500M in new product value across diverse markets. Tony is skilled in translating early-stage technologies into scalable products, shaping technology roadmaps, and cultivating external partnerships with research institutions and industry leaders.

Addressing Nutrient Runoff: An Innovative Approach to Protecting Our Water

Cleveland Water Alliance is working with US EPA, Ohio EPA, and Ohio farmers to pilot a new technology to combat nutrient runoff from animal manure, a key contributor to harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie. This project aims to help farmers save money on waste management, retain valuable nutrients for their soil, and protect our freshwater resources.
